Area: 118,800 square miles (307,690 square km). Forest Area: Forest Area of Maharashtra is 61,939 km2 which is 20.13% of geographical area.

Population: As per data from the 2011 Census, Maharashtra has a population of 11.24 Crores, a rise from the 2001 Census figure of 9.69 Crore. Maharashtra's total population as per 2011 census is 112,374,333 of which 58,243,056 and 54,131,277 are male and female, respectively.

Border State: It shares its border with the Indian states of Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Telangana, Karnataka, and Goa.

Chief Minister: First Chief Minister was Yashwantrao (YB) Chavan (1.05.1960 - 19.11.1962) Present Chief Minister is Eknath Shinde (2022 - Till now).

Chief Justice of High Court: First Chief Justice of High Court was Sir Mathew Richard Sausse (1862-1866) Present Chief Justice of High Court is Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhya (2023 - Till now).

Governor: First Governor was Shri Raja Maharaj Singh (06.01.1948 - 30.05.1952) Present Governor is C.P Radhakrishnan (2024 - Till now).

Known For: It is one of the largest producer of sugarcane in India.
